Due to the exciting harbour tours offered, three students were able to undertake work experience with SERCO. They had the opportunity to drive a tugboat and some of the other craft in the harbour. They even got to help bring a warship into the harbour. One of the students got amazing feedback and their group leader is hoping to send him back for work experience in the new academic year.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Serco UK for so generously donating their time to our young people. Over the last few weeks, all our groups got out on the water on a Portsmouth Harbour tour with Serco. They learned first-hand about some navigation and buoyage and some even got the chance to drive the big boats.

We know that experiences like this have a big impact on our young people – so much so that some of our Year 10 students will be completing their work experience with Serco later this year. What an amazing opportunity for our young people to learn more about careers available on the water and raise their aspirations for what they can achieve!
